camille ver verses of color (1)

The practice of abstractionist Camille Ver is the molding of prosaic scenery into the architecture and foliage that populates her mind. In “Verses of Color”, Camille Ver sets out, yet again, to transform the urban environment into a universe of color whilst remaining true to the sensibilities of abstraction in the realm of visual art. Using her strong emotions as subject, Camille imbues each finished canvas with the condensed essence of a moment.

Camille Ver [b. 1980] is one of the foremost contemporary abstractionists in the Philippines. In recent years, Ver’s oeuvre has been primarily concerned with architectural abstraction and the elegant reinterpretation of foliage and trees. Aggressively transforming the lines and forms of the cityscapes, Ver rejects the common usage of minimalism in abstraction; preferring large swathes of brushstrokes and color experimentation in her style.

Commissioned by the prestigious Jumeirah Creekside 5-star hotel to hold a solo exhibition, Camille’s masterful control of the fluid medium has surpassed the bounds of local art. She invites us to re-imagine the metropolitan landscape and use its language of angles, lines, and forms to assemble our own verses.

Verses of Color opens at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, Al Sheikh Rashid Road, Al Garhoud, United Arab Emirates on September 18 and runs for more than a month until the 31st of October, 2015. For inquiries on the availability of artworks, please call Galerie Stephanie at (02) 709 1488.
