In the works of Kim Borja, internal feelings are given a chance to be witnessed externally by the viewer themselves. Through vibrant colors and expressive yet illustrative faces, the glowing outline which radiates along a subject’s outline makes us believe that a significant event is occurring within the individual beautifully.
In “Thank You, Light”, Kim Borja recalls a special relationship with light ever since childhood — connecting the memory to those she feels responsible for rekindling her sense of hope and purpose throughout her life. As she appreciates those around her does she thank them through a language that she is most skilled at, through art itself.
