In “Letters I Never Sent”, June Digan returns to the approach of memory and the shaping of identity by exploring the immaterial concepts that align with happiness. The likes of memories and personal promises become an integral part of her work, allowing her to appreciate the past and future versions of herself.
The origin of her approach is inspired by Saya Kuboto’s “Missing Post Office”. The art project accepts letters addressed to unnamed people, leading to displayed letters intended for someone from a different time or those who have passed on. The emotional effect brought June to create “Letters from Home”, which allowed her to journey through grief through the same method we see in her newest show.
