Mark Nativo (b. 1989) is an Iloilo based artist whose body of works disrupt the tyranny of perspective. He demonstrates how the world as we know it may be represented and viewed in an infinite number of arrangements. He does this by fracturing the pictorial plane, which becomes the multifaceted space through which elements, usually emblematic of painting genres (portraiture, still life, landscape), are situated. Despite this emphasis on deconstruction, the artist follows an interior sense of ordering—a visual syntax that becomes more pronounced and intelligible the more intently the viewer looks at Nativo’s works.
Mark Nativo gained recognition when he was chosen as part of the regional winners and finalist of the prestigious Philippine Art Awards. He finished his Bachelor of Fine Arts at University of San Agustin.
