Originally trained in industrial design, Antoni Reuben Tan shifted toward ceramics and pottery to gain full creative control over his work and pursue a more personal artistic voice. His pieces reflect a deep interest in human experience, duality, and meaning, often exploring themes of contradiction, identity, and perception.
Born and raised in Palawan, Tan’s early fascination with building, nature, and how things work shaped both his creative and philosophical outlook. Aside from studying in De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, he is influenced by design principles like minimalism and functionalism, as well as fine art traditions, and creates works that are both conceptually rich and accessible. His sculptural series merge intuitive, subconscious processes with deliberate design, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexities of self and reality.
