At the height of the pandemic, visual artist Regina Reyes made the huge decision of relocating to the city of General Santos in Mindanao. Now, she opens her first art exhibition entitled Notes on Surrender after her move. Keep reading to find out more.

Previously based in Manila, visual artist and writer Regina Reyes dabbles in mixed media art and traditional paintings alongside her exploration of creative writing. She graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting. The 29-year-old artist is no stranger to art exhibitions as she has been doing them since 2013, including her solos “Temporal Dwellings” and “No One’s Rushing on a Sunday” in 2021. Most of her works are inspired by personal experiences transformed into universal meanings.

Reyes’ “Notes on Surrender” is her first exhibition after her move to General Santos City and features a collection of mix media collages, paintings, and drawings curated by Liv Vinluan—serving as visual footnotes on the idea of confronting the two sides of dreams and realities and finding balance in between. The exhibition held its grand opening in Galerie Stephanie last November 3 and will be open to the public until November 17.
