With layering and dry brush techniques in his acrylic paintings, Carl Modelo’s pieces birth characters that are equal parts candy-sweet and salty as tears. Modelo’s figures appear as suited to posters and portraits, or even surrealistic dreamscapes as they are to simple backdrops, their colorful temperaments plainly on show for the audience to enjoy. Modelo studied Fine Arts, majoring in Painting at EARIST (Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology), and has been participating in various group exhibitions since 2014.
