Working primarily with thread and silk, Eugenia Alcaide weaves the notions of identity and history into line-art portraits. Alcaide pursued art full time in 2010, developing a technique that involves intertwining strands of thread along paths and patterns to produce the contours of a face.
A graduate of Painting from the Univerisity of the Philippines, Alcaide has mounted several solo and group shows at some of the country’s most prominent galleries such as Galerie Stephanie, Artinformal, West Gallery, and Pinto Museum, participating actively in major local art events such as Art Fair Philippines and Art in the Park.
