Genavee Lazaro (b. 1994) first worked as a sculptor, and received her training in the said art form in the University of the Philippines Diliman. After graduating, she furthered her art practice in the same university as a ceramics studio assistant in the College of Fine Arts from 2016 to 2018. Mostly working on ceramics, Lazaro’s pieces often feature personified foliage in absurd situations, and in her paintings, in various domestic settings.

As a painter, Lazaro recognizes the monotony of living, often depicting the all too familiar household scenes. But she then disrupts the everyday tedium of life by inserting surreal elements into the picture.

Creating with various media, Lazaro has had four solo exhibitions in Galerie Stephanie. She has also been part of group shows, exhibiting in different galleries in the Philippines and in Taiwan.
