Ufa Faizah (b. 1990), a self-taught artist residing in Situbondo, East Java, Indonesia, has honed her skills in oil painting over the past few years. Her journey into art began with experimentation, but in 2020, she found her niche in the expressive world of Direct Painting Method, known as Alla Prima, to imbue her canvases with a sense of immediacy and spontaneity.
Her artistic language revolves around the captivating symbolism of dolls, transformed from mere playthings into powerful metaphors within her compositions. She meticulously arranges these dolls, incorporating carefully chosen backgrounds, props, and lighting to evoke a distinct mood and conjure fantastical realms within the confines of the canvas. Her works have graced numerous exhibitions since 2018. In December 2021, amidst the challenges of the pandemic, Ufa boldly presented her first solo exhibition, “The Beginning, in Surabaya, Indonesia‚ Ufa held her second solo exhibition, “Lost in Wonderland” in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in December 2024.
