The worlds of fashion and art intertwine in Artes, an exciting collaboration between renowned painter Dominic Rubio and award-winning fashion designer Frederick Peralta in a one-of-a-kind art exhibit and fashion show on June 28 to July 4. With each visionary artist taking his cue from the works and practice of the other, Artes is a unique experience in the worlds of both fashion and art.

Artes will be held at the Atrium of The Podium Mall along ADB Avenue in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. The exhibition and fashion show is presented Allied Bank and PNB cards’ LuXeclusive program in cooperation with Galerie Stephanie, one of the leading art galleries in the country. They may be reached through their landline at (632) 709-1488 or visit their website at www.galeriestephanie.com. Allied Bank and PNB cardholders will have the opportunity to acquire the unique paintings of Dominic Rubio on a unique and special deferred payment schedule.

Dominic Rubio is distinguished for his nostalgic paintings of a bygone era. His oeuvre, with their subjects of elongated features decked in incredibly detailed period costumes against the quaint backgrounds of colonial times, is celebrated throughout the art community and has made him one of the most sought-after artists in the country. Coming off his well-received 9th one-man show in Megamall, Rubio has also seen his works exhibited at critically lauded shows in Hong Kong, Singapore, Toronto, and New York. His works have been auctioned at the leading auction houses in Asia. The project will be directed by internationally renowned fashion director Robby Carmona.

“Fashion designer Frederick Peralta is rightly regarded as one of the stalwart icons of Philippine fashion. Winner of many awards for his works, including two international competitions – namely, the Asean Design Competition in Singapore in 1990 where he got to present for Malaysia’s royal family and the Internacional Concour des Jeunes Creatuer de Mode in 1994 where he was invited to present his collection in Paris together with Paco Rabanne, John Louise Scherer, Ted Lapidus, and Ross Met – Peralta was recently named one of the Top 5 Asia designers of Fashion Asia Awards 2011, held in Beijing.

Artes is the result of a true collaboration between these two titans in their respective fields. Featured in the exhibition are recent works by Dominic Rubio inspired by the couture designs of Frederick Peralta. Using Peralta’s affinity with modernizing classic Filipiniana costumes, bringing a hip and award-winning way of viewing Philippine wear, Rubio creates virtuoso works of stunning technique. Rubio captures the essence of the edge of Philippine fashion. Peralta himself also takes a cue from the visual complexity of Rubio’s nostalgic Filipiniana costumes, creating new works inspired by Rubio and presented as a fashion show. Artes will also feature hand-painted designer outfits created by the two artists in an amazing partnership.

Presenting the best of two worlds in Philippine arts and culture, Artes promises to be one of the most exciting cultural events for the year. Art and fashion lovers shouldn’t miss it.
