Domesticate Surrealism

In the first chapter of her exhibition series entitled Domesticate Surrealism, Ciane Xavier reimagines the home as a living ecosystem where everyday objects possess agency, memory, and identity. Through an immersive installation of ceramic sculptures and furniture, Xavier elevates household items beyond mere function, transforming chairs and dining utensils into distinct personalities that act as silent witnesses to our lives. By exploring the reciprocal bond between humans and their belongings, the exhibition invites viewers to perceive the domestic landscape as an emotional space where inanimate objects are active, observant participants that quietly shape our sense of self and shared history.
