This solo exhibition by Aileen Lanuza expands the artist’s symbolic explorations of feminine and floral imagery. Here, Lanuza reiterates the tenor of her painterly practice that has become synonymous with both forms, which cultures across history associate with a vast array of connotations often tending towards notions of softness or fragility. In the context of the present show, the artist departs from these significations and frames the motifs as expressions of strength and power instead. She executes this in formal and pictorial cohesion, where assured brush strokes render the figures in confident bloom. With Flourish as their title and thematic directive, femininity and flowers combine in bold resonance and in a painterly assertion of strength through beauty.
