Vincent de Pio has had a long appreciation for the culture of Japan. Through traveling and research, he has allowed himself to be positively influenced — improving his life and his art style from what he has learned. This can be seen in his latest exhibition “Kodawari: The Detail of Life”, where the constant pursuit of improvement and perfection echoes in his philosophies.
De Pio still leaves the distinct silhouette of a human body wearing the kimonos in gestural flows whether through tea ceremonies, playing the koto, or practicing ikebana, he allows the viewers to channel themselves in an open field of interpretation on who wears the attire, allowing themselves to be a part of the artworks through the moments of reflection.
