Jem Magbanua

Jem Magbanua (b. 1992) received her BA (Hons) Fine Arts from the LASALLE College of Arts, Singapore (in partnership with Goldsmiths’ College, University of London). Her practice is grounded firmly in drawing and explores how places and people shape each other’s conditions through the merging of points between movement and stagnation; naturalness and artificiality; and comfort and displacement. Magbanua completed several artist residencies in Japan (Studio Kura, the Daison Animation Project, and the Itonami International Festival). Apart from exhibiting in the Philippines, her works had been featured in exhibitions in the United States and the Southeast Asia. Magbanua works and lives between Singapore and Manila.
